What the extension reads

Only when you click “Check this purchase”, Second Look reads the current tab: its address, title, description, price tags, structured product data and visible text. If you use “Describe it instead”, it uses only the text you type. It never reads pages in the background.

Where it goes

That content is sent to the Second Look server, which asks OpenAI to write the check and sends the answer back. Our server doesn’t log or store what you send. To enforce the free daily limit, it counts checks per IP address and forgets the count after a day. OpenAI handles the request under its API data policies, which don’t use it for training.

What stays on your device

Finished reports are cached in Chrome’s local extension storage for 24 hours so reopening a listing is instant; “Start over” clears that listing’s report. The extension also keeps a random install ID there. It identifies nothing about you; when you sign in from the extension it links that browser to your account so your plan works in it.

If you sign in

Accounts are optional; free checks work without one. If you continue with Google, we receive your name, email address and Google account ID, and nothing else (no contacts, files or other Google data). We store them with your plan, its renewal or end date, the browsers you connected, and a sign-in cookie that keeps you signed in on this site for 30 days.

If you buy a plan

Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see your card details. We store your Stripe customer and subscription references so your plan works and you can manage it. Stripe keeps payment records as the law requires.

Deleting your data

On your account page, “Delete account” removes your account, sign-ins and connected browsers right away, stops any renewal, and deletes your customer profile at Stripe. Cancelling a subscription keeps your plan until the end of the period you paid for.

What we don’t do

No analytics, no tracking, no ads. We don’t sell or share your data, and we don’t use it for anything other than producing the checks you ask for and running your account.
